Back pain prevention app for desk-based and sedentary workers
Project Overview
We built a mobile app for a health research initiative led by a UK university in partnership with national health and work safety agencies. The aim was to support workers in sedentary professions, such as train drivers, in reducing back pain through education and guided movement.
The app includes a library of instructional videos, a progression system for physical exercises, and simple, accessible content that empowers users to take control of their spinal health. Designed for low-tech users and distributed via internal pilot programs, the app supports full offline use to accommodate users without consistent internet access.

The Challenge
The client needed a tool to help reduce back pain among sedentary workers by promoting simple but effective movement routines. Our Solution
We designed a mobile-first experience with a focus on accessibility, guidance, and offline capability. Our solution included:

- A backend that allowed content iteration based on pilot feedback
